Bye Bye Landry

Landry Fields has agreed to a deal with the Toronto Raptors for 3 years worthy $20 million. The Knicks have until July 14th to match this offer, but I doubt that they will.

He was great in his rookie year and was absolutely terrible last year, so there is no telling where his ceiling is. As a Knick fan, I am 100% sure that he will be very good just because that always happens. `

The Raptors made a great deal here, but not because of Landry Fields. Getting him means that he cannot be involved in a sign-and-trade between the Knicks and the Suns to bring Steve Nash to New York. The deal was supposed to include Fields and other pieces, possibly Toney Douglas, going to the Suns in exchange for Nash. Now the Raptors' 3 year/$36 million offer to Nash looks all the more likely.

Now, if Nash does in fact take less money to join the Knicks, the Raptors have put themselves in position to get Jeremy Lin. It's not a secret that Landry Fields is the best friend of Jeremy Lin. They can match any offer that the Knicks can make the Lin, so if they offer the same money, with the added bonus of best buddy, that's not good for New York.

The evil genius that is Bryan Colangelo just guaranteed himself a point guard, and a 7th or 8th seed in the playoffs in the weak Eastern Conference with the arrival of Jonas Valanciunas this year. Good job.
